Chemung County is poised in the southern Finger Lakes region of New York. Known best for its rolling hills, award winning wineries and glacier carved lakes; the Finger Lakes of New York has become a popular tourist destination, drawing millions of tourists annually. Additionally, the Southern Tier has a strong industrial presence as home to major employers including Corning, Inc., Hardinge, Inc., Fortuna Energy, Schweizer Aircraft, Synthes USA and United Technologies. Currently, the Southern Tier is experiencing a gas well “boom”, with over 50 functioning gas wells in the region.
